**About Our Client**
A successful entrepreneurial company that has grown to become an internationally renowned and highly respected exporter of frozen meat and poultry. Founded in 2008, after quickly establishing a strong export business from North America, the company opened its first European office in the UK in 2012 and since then has added locations in Poland and Italy with growth in South America.
**What you will be doing**
The Financial Controller will work closely with the Owner/President and play an instrumental role in supporting the continued growth of the company.
- Managing full-cycle accounting in a multi-currency, multi-country business, including A/R, A/P and accruals, inventory analysis, and payroll administration
- Ownership of accounting for a portfolio of affiliated holding companies including accounting, preparing financial statements, and filing of annual T2 tax returns
- Responsible for assessment of the design and maintenance of internal controls for the finance function
- Responsible for financial function of the e-commerce platform retail business in Mainland China including assessment of financial reporting needs of the business and possible build out of finance department in the near future
- Active monitoring of cash flow and working capital needs of the company through preparation of cashflow forecasts
- Responsible for month-end close and month-end reporting of financial results for all of the company’s business lines
- Quarterly compliance reporting to the bank of covenants and calculation of security margin
- Prepare draft financial statements and year-end audit binder comprised of balance sheet schedules, reconciliations, and analysis etc.
- Lead person for management and oversight of the year-end external audit
- Responsible for internal reporting (i.e.
- weekly A/R report, weekly inventory report, monthly USD cash position analysis, business line profitability analysis, etc.)
- Other ad-hoc financial analysis as requested by operations
- Liaise with external tax accountants on execution of tax planning strategies
- Filing T1 tax returns for President
- Coaching and supervision of 1 direct report who is a CPA student
**Requirements**:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in good standing
- Minimum 5-7 years of work experience in accounting/finance
- Excellent knowledge of local GAAP, ASPE
- Previous experience with QuickBooks Desktop
- Some working tax knowledge of Corporations tax (especially Canadian Controlled Private Corporation) and Individual is preferred
- Accounting experience with foreign currencies a strong asset
- Must possess a roll-up your-sleeve attitude that is hands-on and resourceful
- Ability to handle large volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and high growth environment
- Excellent attention to detail
