**Position Summary**:
Thanks to our broad seller base, eBay has one of the widest ranges of inventory in the world. eBay is on a journey of building up differentiated positions in key categories. This role will oversee eBay Canada’s merchandising, category management, analytics, finance, and business development efforts across all verticals and in particular build winning positions in our key categories. This includes our domestic business (Canadians selling to Canadians) as well as imports and exports with key markets such as the United States.
The role reports into the Canadian General Manager and will be a key member of the Canadian leadership team. The role will be responsible for providing support and leadership to the Canadian Vertical Teams that report into it -Parts & Accessories, Collectibles etc.
We are seeking a seasoned category leader to play a critical role at a pivotal moment in Canadian retail. We want someone who can deeply understand the fundamentals of our complex business, challenge the status quo and be a catalyst for change.
The Director of Verticals will oversee strategic categories within the Canada business, across the Automotive Parts & Accessories, Trading Cards, and Collectibles, among others. This leader will sit on the Canadian management team while also connecting with counterparts and partners across eBay’s regional businesses. The person will lead category leaders their directs, including supply, demand, experience, and community managers. Additionally, the position heavily uses resources from across the Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Comms, Strategy, Operations, and Legal
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Partner with the Canada Management Team to identify long-term strategic opportunities and creative solutions to tough business challenges across different categories
- Activate uniquely Canadian category opportunities by identifying uniquely local opportunities and crafting both a strategy and an exportable playbook around them.
- Guide team members leading multiple verticals in analyzing market and consumer trends.
- Finding similarities and differences across categories and countries to develop three-year regional strategies, to socialize these globally, and to implement and pivot to drive meaningful contributions to the business in Canada and globally.
- Setting short-and-long-term goals, budgets and put processes and programs in place to optimally achieve these goals.
- Defining strategy-aligned goals and guiding teams toward achieving them.
- Synthesizing internal and external data, customer insights and competitor intelligence to generate insights that advise and support focus category strategies.
- Partner with International Markets Finance team and key POC on all finance related matters.
- Lead internal processes to generate and prioritize category
- and business-wide innovations, drive alignment and consensus from leaders, and embed critical thinking across the organisation.
- Build models to size growth opportunities and support investment cases.
- Develop team members’ abilities to communicate strategic recommendations to senior executives and build opportunities for them to do so.
- Help the team in successfully building out focus verticals while supporting a broad category representation
- Work closely with the US Verticals teams to adopt the best ideas and concepts.
