**Product Innovation Specialist**

Reports to: Baking and Training Specialist

Location: Vancouver, BC

COBS Bread is looking for a passionate and creative Product Innovation Specialist to work alongside marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to develop, research, bake and evaluate new products. This hands-on baking position will lead the charge in testing, trialing, and implementing recipes that will influence flavors across COBS bakeries nationwide.

Key responsibilities include:

- Delivering key elements of the new product lifecycle including conceptualization, product design, trials, evaluation of new concepts, recipes, products for targeted markets or customers and final product specifications
- Test-baking of new and existing products and recipes, and presenting to the Innovation Team for feedback, iteration and enhancement
- Managing and communicating with our network of trial bakeries across Canada
- Building key relationships with strategic suppliers to source new ingredients and vendors
- Staying abreast of trends and developments within the industry, channels, and techniques that will keep the brand in the forefront
- Preparing finished products to the highest standards for marketing activities including promotional materials, photoshoots and customer events
- Assisting the Baking and Training Specialist with various tasks such as managing the National Baking Competition, developing Masterclass video content for training programs, and troubleshooting product quality issues with bakeries
- Ability to work flexible schedule depending on the operational needs such as baking overnight and early mornings
- Ability to travel occasionally across North America to support events and conferences and training
- Working a minimum of 3 days a week at our retail test bakery, the physical requirements are:

- Use of baking tools, equipment, and machinery
- Walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally working overnight or early morning

**Requirements**:
**What You Bring to the Table**:

- 5+ years’ proven experience in baking, preferably within the retail, hospitality or manufacturing industries
- Genuine passion for development of new recipes and flavours
- Advanced baking skills and understanding of baking techniques and product costs
- Knowledge of ingredients functionality including the ability to evaluate product quality and troubleshoot
- Red Seal baker or equivalent is an asset
- Strong organizational skills in working on multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines and working with a sense of urgency
- Knowledge of health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, microbiology, quality assurance principles, and market research principles an advantage but not essential
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Adept in MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods and/or Franchising is an asset
