**About the Team and Role Description**

As a member of the management team, the Manager, People, and Culture is responsible for supporting the Senior Director, People and Culture in maintaining all aspects of strategic, operational, and administrative HR strategies.

The Manager, People, and Culture will be a well-rounded HR generalist. Being competent and confident in a broad range of HR including but not limited to recruitment and onboarding, job classification, health and safety, performance management, employee and labour relations, compensation, benefits administration, management of HRIS and learning systems, advising and supporting on policies and procedures, employee recognition, attendance management, investigations and grievances and off-boarding. In addition, the incumbent with the guidance and support of the Senior Director, People and Culture will lead and support in the delivery of key HR initiatives based on organizational and HR priorities utilizing project management and change management principles.

The Manager, People and Culture will be a self-motivator, a people leader, an innovative thinker, a relationship builder, a time management expert, an analytical and creative problem-solver, and a strong team player. They will be able to work collaboratively in influencing, coaching, supporting, and advising as needed by taking initiative and following the guidance of the Senior Director, People, and Culture.

**Summary of Duties**:
Under the guidance of the Senior Director, People & Culture, the Manager, People and Culture will be required to undertake, oversee, manage or lead on activities that include but are not limited to:

- Provision of HR Advice & Support
- Recruitment & Onboarding
- HR Administration & Analytics
- Benefits & Pension Administration
- Health & Safety
- Labour & Employee Relations
- HR Policy Development
- HR Project Management
- Training & Training Coordination
- Management & Other Duties
- Other HR Initiatives / Projects as required/assigned

**Committee Membership**
- Per guidance from Senior Director, People & Culture, may include: Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), Labour Management Committee (LMC), Staff Recognition & Wellness Committee (SR&WC), Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee (EPAC)

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Knowledge of general human resource practices, benefits administration and how working in a unionized environment influences HR approaches
- Demonstrated proficiency various computer and HRIS programs
- Demonstrated skill in the collection of data, trending and generation of Human Resource related reports
- Demonstrate advanced customer focus, judgment, analytical skills, and critical thinking
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with sound judgment and discretion
- HR Project Management experience and managerial experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage time and conflicting priorities
- Effective team player, sound judgment, integrity, can-do approach
- High attention to detail, quick learner, and ability to hit the ground running
- Experience working in a unionized and fast-paced, dynamic work environment

**Education and Experience**
- Graduate degree in HR, Business or a related field
- Relevant, certified HR professional designation
- Minimum 5 years of relevant and transferable experience
- Payroll, benefits or pension qualifications

**Other Requirements and Working Conditions**:
The majority of the working hours fall within regular business hours.
Flexibility is required to attend the occasional evening, early morning, and/or weekend meetings. If required, adequate notice will be given.
