Automotive Parts Associate

The Automotive Parts Counter Person helps customers in person and over the phone using a computerized auto parts look-up system to find the right part. In this position you need to be able to stand, smile, and help customers all day.
**Major Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Meet, greet and thank customers, providing friendly, informed service to customers in person and over the phone
- Guide customers to location of products
- Provide parts order-desk services
- Suggest value-added and related products
- Source and order automotive parts for customers through authorized suppliers
- Follow established procedures regarding the ordering and sale of parts to the Service Department
- Process customer returns and warranties
- Test batteries, starters and alternators
- Stock and maintain shelves and display areas
- Control inventory accuracy
- Locate products in the warehouse
- Maintain professional appearance (uniform, hygiene, grooming & name tag)
- Follow company, store and department policies
- Follow store health & safety program and observe provincial occupational health & safety regulations; report any observed or potential hazards immediately
- Participate in meetings and all training, as required
- Complete other tasks, as required
Major Requirements and Competencies

- Experience with use of automotive parts lookup system
- Ability to complete tasks according to instructions and demonstrate responsibility for outcomes

**Physical Demands** **(refers to an 8-hour shift with standard breaks)**
- Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours
- Able to lift 25 kilos or 50 lbs unassisted and carry as required
- Ability to lift and turn repeatedly throughout the shift
- Ability to lift above shoulder and from floor to shoulder and floor to waist
- Ability to go up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise
- Ability to walk and carry at same time & push/pull as required
- Able to twist, turn, reach and work above shoulder level
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $16.55-$17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

- Auto parts sales: 1 year (required)
- Retail sales: 1 year (required)
