***What we seek**:
OCHC is currently seeking a dedicated Community Safety Worker (CSW) to assist our tenants with their security needs and maintain the safety of our communities. Under the guidance of the Manager of Community Safety Services, the CSW will build positive relationships with our tenants and will work in collaboration with our internal and external partners to create a safe place for our tenants to call home.

***Community Safety Worker with OCHC**:
Providing safety and peace of mind to our tenants are the main objectives of our organization. As a CSW, **you will be the trusted friend and protector **of the children, families, and individuals living in our communities by bringing peace and security to their homes. **You will be the ally** that the tenants will look up to when they need help.

***As a Community Safety Worker, you will**:

- Promote safety and security by being present and approachable in the community
- Respond to tenant inquiries and complaints
- Work collaboratively with tenants to address safety needs and empower tenants to achieve safer communities
- Work in alignment with OCH protocols and directives
- Support the implementation of safety planning
- Investigate and respond to complaints
- Identify situation that require emergency services
- Prepare reports related to various incidents
- Provide evidence and testimony to support legal actions by OCH and law enforcement agencies
- Build collaborative relationships with external partners such as Ottawa Police Services
- De-escalate and resolve situations by using conflict resolution strategies
- Ensure that personal information of tenants is treated confidentially
- Work in collaboration with on-call maintenance staff to support them after-hours

***What you bring**:
***Education & Experience**:

- College diploma in Law and Security, Social Services, or a related program
- A relevant university degree is an asset
- Two years of professional experience providing safety services involving conflict resolution and community-based problem solving to diverse and vulnerable clients
- Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in English is required
- Knowledge of legislations relating to safety and security, social housing, and Municipal Freedom of Information and Privacy Act
- Knowledge of crime prevention through environmental design
- Knowledge of various social challenges faced by vulnerable population and marginalized communities

- Outstanding **interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills**
- Ability to **follow protocols** and **work without close supervision**
- Ability to **speak French and/or additional languages** commonly used by OCH tenants is an asset
- **Proficiency in Microsoft Office** and familiarity with **database management**
- Ability to **work rotational shifts** - afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays
