**Position Type**:Part-time in-person 10 hours per week flexible hours

**Reports to**:Youth Connector

**Wilmot Family Resource Centre (WFRC)** and **Woolwich Community Services (WCS)** are teaming up to lead a grassroots community initiative.

The goal is to create a youth-driven engagement strategy that better serves rural youth and improves youth mental health. Youth Ambassadors are essential for this initiative and are needed to engage their fellow youth in their township to understand what rural youth want and need through connections with youth, led by youth, for youth.

We are currently recruiting 1 Youth Ambassador for this initiative. The Youth Ambassador will work out of Wilmot Family Resource Centre and will need to travel within the local region to complete job responsibilities. The Youth Ambassador will be provided with transportation if needed.

This is an in-person position. Weekly hours may vary but will average 10 hours per week and may not exceed 20 hours per week and will include some evenings and weekends.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Youth Ambassador (YA) will work collaboratively with the Youth Connector at WFRC and additional sites. The YA will assist the Youth Connector with developing and implementing a rural youth engagement strategy that better serves youth in the area. The YA is a friendly face when youth walk in to use the services and help create a safe space. The YA must be an effective communicator and serve as a leader for peers in their community. The YA will also support the Youth Connector with understanding the wants and needs of youth in the area through connections with youth.

Overall, the Youth Ambassador is a leader, mentor and a voice of their peers

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supporting youth and peers with access to services & resources at WFRC
- Supervising youth during programs and drop in hours
- Starting conversations with youth regarding what they would like to see happen at the agency and in their local community - sharing results of these conversations with the Youth Connector
- Assist with creating and facilitating ongoing youth programs and workshops
- Acting in an outreach capacity for all youth to increase youth engagement
- Handling and working with sensitive material on a daily basis with respect and dignity
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of available services within WFRC and community at large
- Assisting with social media content and communication
- Handling and filling out program reports, incident reports and other paperwork
- Complying with policies and procedures of Wilmot Family Resource Centre
- Complying with all public health, safety, and cleaning procedures
- Other duties assigned by Youth Connector

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
- **Must be currently enrolled in high school** in Woolwich, Wilmot, Wellesley, North Dumfries, Waterloo, Kitchener or Cambridge.
- Interest in providing a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for youth
- Approachable and empathetic personality
- Must be able to ensure confidentiality; can set personal and professional boundaries
- Ability to multitask, work as a team, as well as independently, can meet deadlines and learn quickly
- Excellent communications skills that will be used to build cooperative relationships with youth, staff, and agency partners
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Awareness and sensitivity towards mental health concerns
- Proficient with PC, office equipment, social media, and other related software (Microsoft Office, Gmail, Teams, Zoom and others)
- Willing to travel within Wilmot, Wellesley, and Woolwich townships.
- Ability to obtain Criminal Record Check if over the age of 18
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Standard First Aid & CPR is an asset
- Prior experience supporting youth is an asset

**Details**: Part-time 10 hours/week (hours vary), $15.50/hour, expected start date is June 19, 2023, position length will be June 19, 2023 to December 18, 2023.
