15 Wing, headquartered in Moose Jaw, is the centre of RCAF aircrew training and is comprised of 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (CFFTS) and 431 Air Demonstration Squadron (CF Snowbirds) both located in Moose Jaw, SK. The Wing is the principal site of the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC). 15 Wing is responsible for three different aircraft platforms that include: CT-156 Harvard II, CT-155 Hawk, CT-114 Tutor, and any visiting aircraft.

**Job Summary**

The Facilities Heating Technician is located in Moose Jaw, SK and typically reports directly to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. This position is a Term Position with the possibility of being extended to permanent. This position is responsible the inspection, testing and maintenance of NFTC building boilers, hot water and heating systems. It is expected that this position will work closely with and assist other positions related to heating and cooling equipment and will carry out minor plumbing maintenance within his/her abilities. The Facilities Heating Technician will also carry out the necessary liaison with user groups to minimize disruption to operations due to outages and maintenance work

**Essential job functions**
- Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs and tasks generated by the CMMS and as required by regulatory standards;
- Operates, maintains and repairs, all heating systems and related equipment, including boilers and natural gas air handling systems, in line with relevant codes and standards, and OEM documentation
- Performs water tests and adds appropriate chemicals to maintain clean and efficient boilers and hot water systems;
- Maintains emergency protection systems, as related to the heating systems and equipment, in good running order;
- Assists in the maintenance and repairs of all air conditioning systems and related equipment including chillers, air handling systems and heat pump systems;
- Responds to emergencies occurring during a shift as required;
- Blows down boilers as required;
- Carries out daily inspections of integral boilers and maintains records of activities;
- Schedules and arranges for vessel inspection requirements as mandated by the Provincial Boiler's Branch and the authority having jurisdiction;
- Responsible for administrative duties with carrying out the work and is responsible for material/parts ordering, handling and inventory, and maintains accurate inventory
- Minor building maintenance related to the respective expertise or trade;
- Prepares boilers for inspection by re-gasketing manholes, washing loose scale, removal and cleaning of internal parts, de-scaling, cleaning soot and combustion deposits, and cleaning, inspecting and replacing assemblies and components;
- Prepares estimates for installation, repairs and renovations;
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors engaged in the repair or replacement of all heating systems;
- Receives after hour emergency calls and responds as required;
- Is responsible to maintain a high level of security while performing and executing their scope of work;
- Ensure proper maintenance and repair of all tools and equipment; and
- Other related duties as required.

**EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**
- Fourth Class Power Engineer certificate is essential.

**SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS**

Intermediate knowledge and understanding of:

- Have a valid class 5 driver's license
- Perform minor welding.
- Diagnose and repair minor electrical faults
- Have valid First Aid/CPR qualification.
- Ability to read blueprints, mechanical and electrical drawings
- Must pass an enhanced reliability security clearance
- Must pass a medical examination, Drug and Alcohol test
