**SUMMARY**

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is a unique and high profile tourist attraction located in Cambridge, Ontario. The incumbent must perform a wide variety of maintenance duties associated with the Conservatory including project management, facilities maintenance, carpentry, light plumbing, mechanical and electrical work, snow removal, and liaising with trades.

**QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field, OR 5+ years experience in relevant field
- Police Background Check (Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check)
- Valid Drivers’ License and clear driving record (MVR/Driver Abstract)

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain and repair public exhibits and structures including but not limited to building exterior and interior, pathways, doors, windows, flooring, exhibit cases, terrariums, signage, benches, etc.
- Oversee facilities maintenance including:

- Repairing, painting, renovating, reorganizing, cleaning as directed
- Maintaining organized records of equipment manuals and preventative maintenance schedules (filter replacements etc., and repair records)
- Coordinating maintenance of all equipment to ensure proper functionality (all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, aerobic treatment, pumps, motors etc.)
- Liaising with trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical etc) as required
- Work with the Executive Team to create plans for short term and long term maintenance, service, and repairs, for the facility and any capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate special projects, such as new builds or minor renovations
- Design and construct custom exhibits under direction from Curator
- Oversee and manage the facilities/maintenance budgets and all financial components of facility maintenance and repair contracts
- Oversee all snow removal and salting as required, including some early morning & after hours snow removal to prepare for guest arrival during public business hours and for private events
- Respond to after-hours emergency calls related to low-temperature alarms
- Assist with overall Conservatory grounds and exhibit aesthetic: keep pathways tidy and clear of hazards, keep windows, surfaces, exhibits and signage clean in Conservatory, Emergence Room, Storage room, Link, and Galleries.
- Assist Lead Horticulture Technician with grounds maintenance, repair work, manual tasks, as required
- Assist Custodian with cleaning duties as required
- Assist Joint Health and Safety Committee in repairs as needed and assess facility and report deficiencies and/or hazards
- Attend bi-weekly Operations meetings to report progress
- Adhere to all Company policies, rules, systems and procedures which are outlined in the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory Employee Handbook, as well as all Health and Safety policies and procedures and safe work practices
- Other duties as required

**UNIFORM**

Staff are required to wear the appropriate uniform, footwear and safety equipment at all times

**Job Types**: Permanent, Part-time

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
