Quality Assurance Supervisor, coordinates, and directs the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Program, verifies and maintains product compliance to HACCP, SQF, Quality and Food Safety Standards and specifications by monitoring production, sanitation effectiveness and microbiological analysis. Coordinates with other departments within organization.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
QA Supervisor will have responsibility to maintain all QA systems including Sanitation programs and Pest Control program. Creates procedures pertaining to food safety, Quality and GMP’s, appraisal of production procedures and product attributes for conformance and corrective oversight. Coordinates activities with vendors, outside sales, and outside laboratories. Interacts with regulatory agencies, liaises with CFIA personnel and all staff and communicates relevant quality assurance issues to management within plant environment. Quality and food safety oversight typical in a QA program, including management of HACCP programs, supplier audits, CFIA requirements, and internal GMP programs.

Provides technical assistance on Food Safety and Quality matters to other departments. Performs Quality assurance systems audits to ensure development and execution of quality/sanitation processes and improvements, compliance with governmental regulatory quality, GMP and sanitation standards. Responsible for staff of QA Techs and Lab Tech. Develops personnel through performance appraisals and consistent feedback. Coordinates team involvement activities to drive continuous quality improvement processes.

Provides training to production team members relating to product quality and safety. Assists with the selection and training of employees. Enforce and abide by all company rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as required.

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or other related degree.

Strong understanding of GMP’s, HACCP, SQF, WHMIS and CFIA regulations. Experience in a supervisory position and food processing experience and knowledge of laboratory equipment is preferred. Organizational ability to maintain a complex and high volume of technical information to update.

Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written), precision and quality minded. Conflict recognition, troubleshooting and resolution.

Lead others to solutions by being organized, patient and respectful, set priorities and meet those standards. Good software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, document management systems)

Multi-Tasking: Strong ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate priorities. Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and effectively deal with ambiguous situations.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
May on occasion be required to support other shifts (i.e. cover for vacation) AM/PM shift QA technicians

Combination of office environment (desk/computer work), and production environment (predominantly refrigerated areas but also kitchen area)
