**As the** **_Clerk C - Finance and Administration_** **you will**:

- Process invoices and progress estimates for payments to external suppliers primarily for services received in the construction of large capital projects such as roads and bridges.
- Quickly and accurately review invoicing information received from suppliers for accuracy and compliance with contract agreements and purchase orders.
- Accurately prepare purchase orders for work provided by external suppliers and contractors.
- Prepare service requests for work provided by other City departments and divisions.
- Communicate in a professional manner with engineering staff, project managers, and external suppliers for clarification and/or interpretation of financial information received from suppliers.
- Prepare various journal entries as required.
- Consistently enforce the City's Purchasing Policy and Administrative Standard FM-002 and advise supervisors of any concerns.
- Accurately maintain relevant capital project filing systems (electronic and/or paper copies).
- Respond to various enquiries from other departments, contractors, and external consultants.
- Identifies budgetary/commitment control issues in capital projects and works with other Finance Department staff to resolve.
- Compile cost information for reporting and claiming purposes.
- Perform timekeeping.
- Other duties compatible with the classification as required.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- High school graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience reviewing financial and invoicing information from suppliers.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Finance Purchasing and Accounts Payable Modules.
- Knowledge of the City's Purchasing Policy and Administrative Standard FM-002.
- Understanding of accounting principles and journal entry fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to handle periods of high workload volumes while maintaining accuracy and timeliness in the accounts payable process.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with internal City staff and external suppliers in a courteous and professional manner in-person, by telephone, and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and files.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with mínimal supervision.
- Familiarity with the Builders' Lien Act relating to progress payments would be considered an asset.
