**What you will do**

The Procurement Consultant is a customer-focused, analytical thinker, experienced with supporting category experts and internal clients with their sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and purchasing needs. They are an important member of the Non-Merchandise Procurement team, whose mandate is to support procurements and related productivity improvements. Reporting to a Procurement Manager, the Procurement Consultant is responsible for conducting procurement of goods and services for the enterprise to ensure continued operational efficiency and best value for the corporation’s funds in the acquisition of goods and services. They use their solid workload and time management skills to plan and execute multiple competing priorities while ensuring consistent on-time delivery and are self-motivated to work independently but collaborative to work as part of a team and with cross-functional stakeholders. The Procurement Consultant is comfortable providing insight and guidance to a variety of stakeholders. Their strong inter-personal skills allow them to lead processes, provide cross-functional direction & guidance, and take action to resolve conflicts despite reporting relationships. They are an important member of the Non-Merchandise Procurement (NMP) team, whose mandate is to support procurements and related productivity improvements. Categories of spend touched by the team include supply chain, real estate, marketing, IT, HR, professional services, financial services, retail supplies (not for resale), administrative supplies, and travel.
- Award, monitor, and administer blanket, contract and standard purchase orders on behalf of business users using procurement software. Validate POs entered by the business.
- Manage one or more central inboxes and provide purchasing input or advice on all purchase requests.
- Ensure procurement requests comply with established procurement processes to maintain auditability of the procurement function.
- Compile reports on vendor or item/service purchasing history to identify opportunities to implement cost savings and productivity initiatives, including identifying new vendors and negotiating pricing on high value/high volume spend categories.
- Support development, execution, and coordination of RFQ, RFP and RFI initiatives including researching potential vendors, executing sourcing event activities, perform bid analysis and create associated reporting.
- Work collaboratively with Procurement Manager to identify and implement initiatives to increase procurement and category efficiency and improve inventory valuation and daily functions of procurement processes.
- Capture, enter, maintain, and manipulate procurement-related data as required, such as that related to vendors, contracts, POs and receipts.
- Lead and engage internal stakeholders in the change management process for implementation of new procedures within the business.
- Uses workload management and prioritization skills to effectively plan work and consistently deliver on concurrent initiatives.
- Liaise with suppliers and various key stakeholders before, during and after sourcing events.
- Use procurement related tools (e.g., Ariba or Coupa) to fulfill responsibilities.
- Become a SME on assigned area by developing and maintaining business, process, and project specific knowledge.

**What you bring**
- University degree in business or related area, College/Technical Institute diploma, or salient certifications (such as PMAC, Certified Purchasing Professional, etc.)
- Two (2) years of purchasing experience in an indirect spend environment, including PO creations and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and leading procurement technologies (e.g., Ariba or Coupa) is an asset.
- Familiarity with the RFP process including procurement functions and bid analysis.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
- Proven ability to act in an ethical and transparent manner in compliance with corporate code of conduct.
- Self-motivated to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative problem-solving and a certain degree of latitude are expected.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Strong negotiating skills
