**Maintenance Technician**

The Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association (SPFGA) requires two (2) highly organized and competent Maintenance Technicians to work at our Ketchamoot Creek Recreational Property.

Covering nearly 730 acres in the picturesque Beaver County aspen parkland, the property provides safe and fun outdoor recreational opportunities including rifle, rimfire, handgun, and shotgun ranges, a black powder trail, an archery range and 3D trail, a fishpond, campground, snowshoe/ski/hiking trails, and a clubhouse. The property is open to our members 365 days/year, so these positions are critical in keeping our facilities and property well maintained, safe, and looking great for our members’ use.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Create, manage, and execute a scheduled property maintenance workplan in order to maintain the grounds associated with all the firearm and archery ranges and trails, clubhouse surrounds, campground, hiking trails and buildings.
- Inspect facilities to identify maintenance needs, complete inspection and preventive maintenance reports, recommend, prioritize, and perform corrective maintenance as required.
- Responsible for the cleanliness, organization and functionality of the garage, equipment, all shooting range sheds, and the clubhouse.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, their respective maintenance schedules, operation manuals and warranties.
- Maintain all equipment according to safety and operation manuals and keep accurate maintenance records.
- Repair and replace firearm range back stops, target stands, and shrouds as required.
- Ensure that shooting range shed safety curtains are in good condition, and proper working order.
- Ensure archery range and 3D trail targets are placed appropriately.
- Regularly sweep all shooting range sheds to ensure that there are no spent casings or litter on the cement walkways, and routinely rake around the range sheds to collect spent casings, shotgun hulls and other waste.
- Mow, trim and perform other maintenance of all ranges, green spaces, trails, and areas adjacent to the gate, shooting sheds and other buildings during the growing season.
- Perform snow removal and minor grading of SPFGA roads as needed.
- Shovel snow to all the various amenities, as well as inside the shooting range sheds.
- Routinely empty garbage and recycling bins into respective bins/receptacles.
- Clean and maintain outhouses and clubhouse washrooms, including replenishing supplies as needed.
- Perform chainsaw work, cutting and splitting wood, and filling woodsheds as required.
- Perform general cleaning, painting, and repair work as required.
- Routinely inspect the fishpond aeration system including the aeration pump, filter and hose. Clean or replace the filter or other parts as required.
- Monitor and maintain the water level in the fishpond.
- Provide members with assistance should they require it.
- Routinely inspect the first aid supply kits and fire extinguishers.
- Monitor propane and potable water levels.
- Complete field level hazard assessment forms and associated safety cards as required.
- Other tasks and duties as requested by the Executive Director.
- Report work accomplished on electronic timesheet.

**Qualifications**:
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
- Completion of a High School Diploma.
- 2 years related experience.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Successful completion of the SPFGA orientation.
- Adherence to the policies contained in the SPFGA Policy Manual and the Hazardous

Work Protocol.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in a mechanical and high-risk safety environment.
- Ability to understand, communicate in, read, and write English at a level needed to meet job-related task and safety requirements.
- Demonstrated good work ethic with a willingness/ability to learn and be mentored on the job to update skills as required.
- Committed to safety using Occupational Health and Safety and environmental standards and procedures.
- Ability to work in an environment that may include heat, cold, wet, dust, and noise.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including repetitive bending and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive, and service-minded style.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with operating hand and power tools.
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a tractor and associated attachments/implements.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a high level of personal organization and follow verbal and written directions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Required to possess current PAL (Possession and Acquisitions License - restricted and unrestricted).
