- Total 3 cohorts
- Each cohort: 2 hours per day x 4 days per week x 10 weeks. Additional 34 hours prep-time

**About the Position**:
The Digital Literacy Language Instructor is responsible for delivering Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) based lessons about using digital skills and tools in the English language for newcomers to Canada according to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) established Language Training Outcomes. This position is responsible for planning lessons that utilize and adapt classroom teaching materials. The Digital Literacy Language Instructor may also provide and support clients with access to digital tablets.

**Reports to**: Language Lead

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Plans, organizes, and facilitates weekly digital literacy classes to clients through both online and in-person delivery methods
- Adapts and modifies curricula according to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. guidelines
- Develops lesson plans based on S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in-house curricula, core framework, and LINC Curriculum that are aligned with the CLBs
- Develops lesson plans for newcomers to learn English in a practical manner that can be applied in the real word context
- Engages students to facilitate dialogue and learning
- Teaches classes in accordance with IRCC Language Training Outcomes
- Maintains and submits accurate records such as attendance sheets
- Communicates client needs and issues to the Language Lead
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Language Lead

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education is an asset
- TESL Canada and/or TESOL certificate or equivalent certification
- Minimum of 600 hours ESL teaching experience or completion of a supervised teaching practicum as a part of TESL/TESOL training program
- Minimum of 1 year’s adult teaching experience
- Experience in settlement/adaptation services is an asset
- Experience in the social services sector is an asset
- Experience with multicultural clientele and immigrant related services
- Experience with online education platforms such as: Moodle, Smartboard, and Zoom
- Knowledge of community resources for newcomers to Canada
- Knowledge of intercultural and social issues
- Knowledge of CLB-based language programs
- Knowledge of basic principles of classroom crisis management

**Job Skills & Abilities**:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Additional languages are considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent class delivery and facilitation skills
- Excellent technical skills in physical and virtual classroom equipment, such as smartboard and document camera technology
- Excellent course planning, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

**Other Requirements**:

- Criminal Record Check Required
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as required
- Ability to work at multiple locations in Greater Vancouver
