Manager, Orthopaedics and Subacute Rehabilitation

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Acute Rehabilitation Services and Neurosciences, the Manager, Orthopaedics and Subacute Rehabilitation Services, Victoria General Hospital (VGH) is responsible for all aspects of planning, organizing and directing delivery of the inpatient orthopaedic and subacute rehabilitation units' patient care services. Ensures program policies and procedures comply with professional, legal, and VIHA standards.
The Manager provides leadership in the delivery of Orthopaedic and Subacute Rehabilitation Services with focus on the coordination and integration along the continuum of care. Manages the human, fiscal and materiel resources for these functions. Manages the professional and clinical practice of staff, the quality of care and the development and implementation of policies and procedures in a manner consistent with the Vancouver Island Health Authority's strategic directions, while maintaining client-focused service.
Provides programs and services for individuals requiring orthopaedic care, subacute rehabilitation services and wound care management by:
Working collaboratively with the Manager of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Services at the Royal Jubilee Hospital to develop consistent care practices in Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Services at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals, and the Victoria Joint Replacement Clinic.
Working with orthopaedic and rehabilitation services interprofessional teams and other disciplines to continue to improve care delivery for orthopaedic and rehabilitation patients.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant health discipline.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Masters degree preferred.
- Seven - ten years health care experience including several years at the supervisory/management level or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current membership in the appropriate professional organization.
- Ability to integrate administrative, professional and operational aspects of the program in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ability to lead and manage, motivate, delegate and operate in both structured and unstructured situations.
- Ability to develop an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on a continuous basis.
- Ability to work with delegates to provide program services at multiple sites in a regional setting.
- Ability to think systematically & strategically with strong planning and operational skills.
- Ability to adapt readily to rapid and changing environment and respond with initiative.
- Ability to interact professionally with various levels of personnel, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated clinical competence.
