**Road Claims Representative**

Portage Mutual Insurance, a trusted property and casualty insurer located in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba is seeking an adaptable and conscientious individual to join the team. As a Road Claims Representative, you will attend the loss site, gather details of the loss, secure statements, review scopes, and work closely with both customers and service providers to bring claims to resolution.

You will have the option to work in a hybrid work environment and will be an integral part of the team.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Review new losses and prepare investigation plan.
- Contact the insured to discuss loss details and arrange inspection appointment.
- Attend loss scene to confirm facts of loss through various investigation methods.
- Work with policyholder to explain claims process to ensure efficient claims experience.
- Secure photographs of losses, diagrams, etc.
- Collect evidence to preserve subrogation as necessary.
- Engage experts (engineers, appraisers, etc.) as needed to assist in determining facts
- Evaluate liability and identify subrogation opportunities.
- Identify salvage opportunities and ensure efficient disposal.
- Obtain official reports - police, fire and medical providers.
- Obtain details of overall risk and relay any potential hazards/concerns to underwriting.

**Required Skills**:

- High school diploma required
- Chartered Insurance Professional designation or willingness to work towards designation required
- Minimum of one-year experience in the insurance industry, service industry or transferable technical position (construction, automobile repair, agriculture)
- Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Prior experience with Guidewire Suite an asset
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment
- Must work well with brokers, vendors, policyholders and coworkers
- Must display a courteous and professional manner at all times
