Airborne Infrared System Operator: Wildfire Mapping

We require additional personnel to assist in the operation of our state-of-the-art wildfire surveillance system. New operators will join our Night Ops mission crew aboard our twin-engine airplane.

This is a critical service, supporting national wildfire suppression efforts. Our main base of operations is Calgary's Springbank Airport, with secondary bases central to fire locations. This is a Fly in/Fly out rotation position, with bonus pay and per-diem during field deployment. Training is provided.

As wildfires may occur sporadically, operations may be paused between missions. A monthly stipend of $2,000 is offered to all trained operators to maintain their availability.

**Night Ops**:During flight, the Operator sits behind the pilot and uses custom software to operate the detection system (start-up sequence, calibration sequence, scanning sequence, data transfer sequence, shutdown sequence). The Operator communicates directly with the pilot, providing navigation cues to ensure optimal imagery collection.

The imagery collected is then analyzed in real-time to support wildfire operations, delineating the intensity and extent of wildfires.

Background: During Fire Season (April 1 - October 1) we are on call to conduct professional wildfire mapping missions nationwide, with work primarily in Alberta and BC. Missions are flown overnight, above the smoke, at the location of the forest fire.

- Keep and maintain accurate files.
- Be comfortable learning a custom camera/fire detection equipment and software (training provided, self-learning also important)
