**Background**:Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS) is a community safety and crisis support service program operated by service partners across Toronto. Gerstein Crisis Centre is the anchor for the downtown project.

Gerstein Crisis Centre (GCC) believes strongly that a model in which the earliest intervention for mental health needs is provided by a mental health worker, rather than the police service, can provide opportunities to access the services people want and need to leverage help sooner, while reducing stigma, discrimination, and unnecessary police involvement. Our experience over the past three decades has demonstrated that this early intervention can put needed supports in place and often avoid unneeded interactions with emergency services such as hospitals and police.

Gerstein Crisis Centre involvement in TCCS builds on our many years of experience and are committed to continue to collaborate, partner, and ally with others across the city to create a strengths based, integrated, accessible, community based, anti-racist and socially-just crisis response system.

**Job Summary**:The Project Manager will work within the leadership team for the Toronto Community Crisis Service and within the overall management team of Gerstein Crisis Centre. They will share responsibility for general oversight of the Toronto Community Crisis Service, with specific responsibilities including programming, staffing, scheduling, and clinical supervision of direct service team(s). The Project Manager will work collaboratively with GCC/TCCS leadership, partners, and liaise with community stakeholders. The Project Manager will also work within the budget and assist in data collection, research, and evaluation.

**Successful applicants will have**:

- Post-secondary degree in related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- At least five years of experience working in community mental health, crisis intervention, substance use specific services or experience in a related field;
- At least three years of progressive leadership within a mental health, substance use or multi-service community organization;
- Experience in providing clinical supervision;
- Experience managing projects of similar scale and timelines;
- Experience with financial management;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- A broad understanding of all the factors that impact an individual’s mental health and well-being including the social determinants of health, trauma, poverty and homelessness, Racism and the effects of colonialism and discrimination;
- A demonstrated understanding of best practices for crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies;
- A demonstrated understanding of best practices for suicide risk assessment and interventions;
- A demonstrated understanding of a harm reduction approach to substance use and recovery;
- A demonstrated understanding of issues related to involvement in the Mental Health and Justice System;
- A demonstrated commitment to working through an Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppression, Trauma informed lens
- A demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and community partners;
- A demonstrated capability to be flexible and to work under pressure;
- A demonstrated ability to create and maintain an environment that is supportive and encourages staff growth and development;
- A current and working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and P.H.I.P.A.;
**Primary duties and responsibilities**:

- Responsible for general operational oversight of crisis team and service provision;
- Works collaboratively with with Executive Director, Director of Municipal and Community Partnerships, Access Coordinator and CCIW staff to deliver high quality services according to project goals and intended outcomes.
- Responsible for clinical supervision and management of direct service staff;
- Schedules project staff;
- Conducts staff reflective practice sessions and evaluations;
- Receives and approves and manages requests for vacation from project staff;
- Summarizes and reports project staff absences (i.e. vacation and sick time taken) to designate according to established GCC protocol;
- Participates in team meetings, all staff meetings and Board of Directors’ meetings, as required;
- Responsible for project evaluation, supported by Project Advisory Committee, Director of Municipal and Community Partnerships and project staff
