**Classification: Intigrated Addictions Counsellor/ Clinical Counsellor Grid Level: 16 Paraprofessional**

Provides prevention, assessment, referral, counselling and follow-up services to individuals in Mission and Abbotsford struggling with mental health issues and affected by abuse of alcohol, drugs and gambling.

Reports to: Manager of Counselling

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Conducts comprehensive assessments, develops treatment plans and makes referrals to other programs or agencies as required.
- Maintains accurate up-to-date records, including documentation of all client contacts, case notes and referral records and case consultation notes.
- Assists clients to live without depending on addictive substances and activities. Teaches and assists clients in developing life skills and community survival skills. Engages clients in acceptable recreational and social activities in the community.
- Assists the Manager of Counselling in managing and developing the program, including but not limited to managing the waitlist, collecting and reporting monthly statistics.
- Attends and actively participates in team meetings, team building and development activities.
- Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions.
- Develops appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
- Collaborates with mental health, medical teams and social workers as necessary.
- Consults, networks and liaises with community agencies and professionals to maintain up-to-date information on available resources.
- Maintain positive community relations and build mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Excellent understanding of violence against women’s issues both within dominant and non-dominant cultures.
- Excellent understanding of mental health and addiction issues, and the impact on clients and family members.
- Firm commitment to working from a feminist perspective, providing women-centered, trauma-informed and client-centered approach and a pro-choice stance.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant resources in the Fraser Valley and how to access them.
- Strong listening skills, written and oral communication skills including public speaking skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate information to others (i.e. case notes, reports and statistics).
- Demonstrated ability to provide crisis intervention and support for women.
- Demonstrated ability to support women through their journey toward healing and independence, by providing individual and group counselling and referrals as needed.
- Strong knowledge and experience in providing service to women in an integrated case management team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse clientele, and cultural competency.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be well organized with good case management skills. This includes keeping up-to-date confidential client files, Adhere to CHB-HPP rental supplement requirements and maintain mandatory tracking and records, producing program reports and statistics required and on time, and keeping abreast of current information that is relevant to our ability to deliver relevant, accurate information and services.

**Qualifications**:

- Education and Knowledge
- Master’s Degree in Counselling
- Licensed Mental Health Counsellor

**Training and Experience**
- Two (2) years recent related experience, including training or experience in addictions work. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Standard First Aid Certificate
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and safe driving record

**Salary**: $37.66-$46.15 per hour
