**Your Opportunity**:
The Mental Health Clinician on the Mobile Response Team (MRT) acts as a fully contributing member of an interdisciplinary crisis intervention, stabilization and assessment team. The Clinician is responsible for providing specialized mental health assessment and consultation services for clients who are experiencing acute mental health issues. The Clinician works closely with psychiatric emergency staff and community partners to ensure stabilization of immediate crisis and facilitate a person's appropriate involvement in post crisis treatment services. The MH Clinician conducts mental health assessment for the purpose of contributing to a mental health diagnosis and to inform treatment planning. MH Clinicians are responsible for providing mental health assessments, therapeutic interventions, referrals and advocacy. MRT is the core team responsible for psychosocial response in the event of a disaster or mass casualty event. The MH Clinician must be able to provide psychological first aid and other stepped care responses when deployed by ZEOC. The Clinician provides input to patient care planning and to the team's clinical decision-making related to psychosocial factors, barriers and dynamics. Critical clinical decisions of life-threatening proportions are made on a frequent basis in order to assure the safety of clients and the community as well as to plan appropriate assessment and treatment follow-up. The MH Clinician must make such decisions spontaneously and independently.
**Description**:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

**Required Qualifications**:
Occupational Therapists: Completion of bachelor¿s degree in Occupational Therapy and active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Psychologists: Completion of bachelor's degree in Psychology and active (or eligible registration) with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses: Completion of an accredited Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing education program and active (or eligible registration) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Social Workers: Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work and active (or eligible registration) with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW).
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Training in Psychological First Aid required. Minimum 4 years of crisis assessment and stabilization within an Addiction and Mental Health community setting experience required. Demonstrated ability to complete a mental health assessment in non-traditional settings, including risk assessment, mental status evaluation and psychosocial assessment is required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary community health team and to accept and request direction is required. Demonstrated professional, mature manner required. Demonstrated teaching abilities, strong decision making, assessment and intervention skills required. Demonstrated ability to manage varying levels of clinical acuity and ability to work successfully with a heterogeneous client population required.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Awareness of community agencies and resources for addiction and mental health clients (both inside and outside of AHS) an asset. Training in critical incident stress management preferred.
