**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Warehouse Lead, the Materials Planner is responsible to ensure goods move through the Refinery efficiently and in the most effective way to minimize delays for scheduled work. This role is key for setting others up for success across the refinery. The role determines priorities for the preparation and requisition of goods for work order requirements looking 1 to 6 weeks forward, with the ability to complete shipping / receiving, unpacking, and inspecting of all deliveries of materials. This includes reconciliation for price, quantity, quality, and damage, ensuring materials and supply requirements are available when they are required for scheduled work orders and completing prompt and accurate submission of goods requisitions, monitoring of receipts and issue movements. The Materials Planner has strong cross-functional linkages to all Refinery Units and identifies efficient work execution practices to drive solutions to plant reliability risks by supporting initiatives and team members for success.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensures that the business has the supplies and inventory it needs to function according to schedule;
- Coordinates movement of material and parts between production areas, according to predetermined schedules and order priorities;
- Routes parts and assembles material in or out of industrial shop facilities, or the Refinery Unit staging areas (shelters). Movement of priority items is expedited, and overdue material is followed up, keeping production controllers and work area supervisor(s) informed of material status;
- Ensures delivery of product is completed on schedule. Saves money by actively working to improve delivery times, and reduces the risks associated with delays in the supply chain (reducing the frequency of maintenance technicians coming to the warehouse);
- Supports the Maintenance KPI reporting structure for quality, cost, productivity, and schedule to support maintenance objectives and targets; reports weekly to all stakeholders on same;
- Supports One Maintenance Team and Operations Centered Philosophy on site;
- Physically transfers materials or coordinates with department personnel, staging areas, or other warehouse locations maintaining appropriate records in data base. May initiate purchase orders, receive, and issue materials;
- Compares inspection and material receipts and quantities with purchase orders;
- Continuous improvement champion, reports on and leads improvement opportunities;
- Maintains a pro-active approach by implementing and promoting HSE awareness in regards to personal well-being and safety of their fellow employees;
- Assists with quality system audits and compliance;
- Assists with reverse logistics to ensure all unconsumed work order goods are either returned to inventory, restocked with vendors or defined as true surplus;
**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience in a practical warehouse setting;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to maintain detailed records;
- Forklift/pallet truck certification;
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges;
- Knowledge of maintenance delivery methods, planning and scheduling compliance;
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them;
- Ability to effectively report weekly on KPIs;
- Work effectively with all integrated stake holders;
