**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Turnaround Planning & Scheduling Lead, the primary responsibility of the Instrumentation Planner - Turnaround is the development, refinement, execution/ facilitation of all instrument/automation work packages for turnarounds and outages.

The Instrumentation Planner is a key member of the North West Redwater Partnership (NWR) Turnaround department who will work collaboratively with the Instrumentation Maintenance & Repair team to insure all turnaround instrumentation & automation work packages meet discipline requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Planning/scheduling of all activities related to the inspection and testing of instrumentation/automation and controls equipment during the turnaround;
- Conducts field verifications to confirm work described in the work submission document is valid and develops a detailed work scope for repairs of any identified instrumentation and/or components;
- Works with the mechanical and electrical planners to identify all job steps and crafts needed to execute instrumentation work within the mechanical/electrical work packages and ensure that these steps and crafts are incorporated into the plan and schedule;
- Prepares job plans with optimized job task logic and craft requirements for all approved instrumentation/automation turnaround jobs to achieve turnaround premises including low cost and safety performance;
- Ensures all job plans are in compliance with NWR’s environmental plan (waste disposal, lead/asbestos abatement, frac tanks, vac trucks, etc.);
- Works with SCM and outside vendors to obtain labor and parts pricing and any required shop time for automation equipment/instrumentation;
- Identifies all needed instrumentation materials and ensures that these items are ordered and received in accordance with the Turnaround Materials Management Plan;
- Prepares budgets for all automation scopes of work items including on-site and outside shop repairs and ensures the preparation and issuance of all required Purchase Orders;
- Works collaboratively with the turnaround team in the development of the turnaround logistics plan;
- Serves as a liaison between Turnaround Planning and the Project team for all instrumentation/automation matters related to capital projects and ensure optimum plan/schedule integration;
- During turnaround field execution, this role is responsible for coordinating and updating daily progress to the P6 work schedule, including all off-site instrument shop repairs;
- Function as an instrumentation focal point during turnaround field execution, understands the P6 work schedule and drive the schedule to an efficient and highly effective execution;
- Assists with work scope challenge for identified instrumentation/automation scopes of work;
- Assists the routine & preventative maintenance representatives in establishing optimum scopes and cost estimates for non-turnaround instrumentation work;
- Focal point for all instrumentation/automation related communications with the Turnaround team;
- Conducts job plan and schedule assessments in order to establish an optimal plan to achieve turnaround premises including low cost and safety performance;
- Identification, review and escalation of high risk activities;
- Ensures compliance to NWR standards, policies and procedures;
- Responsible for schedule compliance reporting on a daily basis;
- Provides a critique of instrumentation related turnaround activities after completion of the turnaround;
- Works with the lead scheduler to optimize the master turnaround schedule;
- Management of turnaround files and records related to instrumentation work scope.

**Requirements**:

- Responsible for the safety performance of any assigned personnel during turnaround execution;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment;
- Maintains a strong relationship with entire team during times of high energy and stress;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Technologist or Journeyman Instrument Mechanic with equivalent experience;
- Experience in executing turnarounds considered an asset;
- Experience with digital control systems (DCS) and digita
