**About Us**:
Nova Scotia is rich in natural resources - including biodiversity, forests, provincial parks and the land we manage. The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables is responsible for the development, management, conservation and protection of forest, parks and wildlife resources and the administration of the province's Crown land. Together we are working with Nova Scotians to build a better future through sustainable natural resource management as we all benefit from the natural health and wealth of the province.

The Shubenacadie Wildlife Park is one of Nova Scotia’s top tourist destinations and has attracted millions of visitors over the past 69 years. The 40 hectare park has enchanted Nova Scotians and visitors alike and provides a wide range of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities.

**About Our Opportunity**:
The Provincial Wildlife Park is looking for a Visitor Experience Clerk to primarily take admissions and provide information about the Park and the surrounding area.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
As the first staff member to interact with the visiting public you will set the tone for their visit. You will have an opportunity to showcase your excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills in determining best approaches to deal with difficult customers, unexpected groups and incorrect bookings. You will be responsible for balancing and depositing all revenues. The clerk is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining the admissions office, and from time-to-time public washroom, and other park areas. This could include weather related activities, like shovelling, sanding, or sweeping.

This position reports to the Visitor Experience Supervisor.

To be successful in this role you will have graduated grade 12, be proficient in math and basic accounting, with a good understanding of working with cash (balancing, giving correct change, deposit slips, etc.), operating a cash register, and point of sales (POS) system.

Your strong organizational skills and ability to be detail oriented will be required. You will have excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to problem solve quickly and efferently.

The shifts for this position vary, but typically are 7-10 hours long and can be very demanding. You will be required to work with limited or no supervision and must therefore be able to determine priorities effectively. You will be working mostly in a small office. You may be required to stand for long periods of time.

A good understanding of park directives, Occupational Health and Safety regulations and other Department Acts and Regulations will be considered an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
