**Overview**:
The Water and Wastewater Divisions’ focus is to ensure the community is provided with a safe and reliable drinking water supply, wastewater is efficiently collected and properly treated, and both the environment and long-term fiscal processes are sustainable. The Water and Wastewater Division operates in accordance with the Municipal Drinking Water Licences (MDWLs) and Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) as issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).

**The role**:
To help the Water and Wastewater Division achieve its vision of Clean Water for Life, this position provides technical and analytical support to the Manager, Supervisors, and Forepersons of Water & Wastewater Linear and Groundwater Operations. Responsibilities include analyzing existing water systems, recommending improvements and replacements, and proposing maintenance and operational strategies. Additionally, this role conducts specialized technical investigations and studies related to operations and maintenance.

**In this role you will**:

- Conduct site investigations and analyze specific problems or proposals relating to water and wastewater operations. Prepare detailed reports and drawings and make recommendations.
- Monitor operations and maintenance programs to maintain compliance with Ministry of Environment legislation and provide support during Ministry inspections as needed.
- Implement programs to monitor flow and pressure within the existing infrastructure, ensuring data is forwarded to relevant internal groups as required. Perform low pressure investigations, install hydrant pressure recorders, pressure zone monitoring and hydrant flow tests.
- Aid with training of staff related to new technologies, equipment, procedures and field practices and aid in setting up tools for new hires.
- Inspect and certify equipment used for confined space entry, working at heights and other operational tasks. Ensure proper records of inspections, calibrations, and repairs in accordance with Ministry guidelines.
- Keep track of material signed out by operators for tracking of replacement and loss of materials and tools.
- Maintain inventory of regional vehicles, devices and other regional assets and materials. Conduct annual parts inventory/physical count. Ensure calibration and repair of general use regional equipment and safety devices.
- Source and find new equipment under supervisor's direction, quotes, cost, delivery times. Liaise with Stores/Vendors regarding parts/materials/tools and ensure quantities received and utilized are accurately displayed on internal regional system.
- Collate, provide documentation and draft reports for claims as requested by Risk Management and for MFIPPA requests (Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).
- Coordinate the restoration process including site evaluations, scheduling, and tracking of work by contractors and conducting QA/QC on ongoing and completed work.
- Act as primary point of contact for locate service providers to resolve issues with locating Peel assets.
- Provide updates, corrections, and changes of infrastructure assets to Public Works Operations Support group and Capital Planning and Construction groups.
- Maintain stock and track granular material being delivered to Operation’s Yards. Oversee delivery and use of material as well as ensure quantities received and utilized are accurately displayed on internal regional system.
- Research Review and Evaluation including:

- Research and provide recommendations on new technologies and equipment pertaining to water and wastewater systems.
- Review plans and provide comments from an operations perspective on capital projects, new connections and development in conjunction with engineering and construction, and other utilities.
- Review and evaluate water service flow test results, pressure data logs, etc. Provide written reports to and correspond with residents stating the results of investigations. Provide information to the area foreperson if corrective measures are required on municipal property.
- Monitor wastewater flow meters for alarms during wet weather events and report to appropriate staff for action if needed.
- Assist with maintenance hole condition assessment and sewer back up investigation and reporting, if requested.
- Financial Management including:

- Resolving discrepancies in work orders and invoices.
- Vendor invoicing review/coding for processing
- Prepare Emergency Purchase Orders (EPOs) for new purchases.
