**What do you offer?**

The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Child Care with the operations of the YMCA child care center, with a focus on the quality experiences for children. The Program Coordinator gives leadership and supervision to YMCA staff and volunteers and is accountable for the quality and compliance of program delivery, ensuring adherence to the Mission, Vision and Values of the Y, Playing to Learn curriculum standards, and legislative requirements.

This is a 6-month contract.

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Working with, leading, and evaluating staff, volunteers, and programs
- Communicating with staff and providing mentorship, where required
- Providing feedback on quality standards and program delivery through regular curriculum audits
- Implementing procedures for quality programming
- Responding to individual and group needs
- Ensuring program plans and centre environments address each child’s identified needs and stages of development
- Assisting Director with coaching sessions for staff, as required
- Travelling between Y locations, as required

**Education**
- ECE diploma or CECE recognized equivalency is an asset

**Language**
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Other languages are considered an asset

**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with children
- Minimum 1-2 years of leadership experience
- Sound knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Sound knowledge of the YMCA Play to Learn curriculum is an asset
- Access to a vehicle for regular travel between YMCA locations
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs

**Additional Requirements**:

- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
