Are you interested in labour market information and supporting project activities and solutions to workforce challenges? Workforce Development Board (WDB) is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual with some research experience to work for us for 8 weeks this summer funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. WDB is a not-for-profit organization committed to delivering responsive workforce development solutions to meet local labour market needs through knowledge, resources and partnerships.

The work week is 35 hours, five days a week, at $17.55/hour with a start date of June 3, 2024. **This is a hybrid role with work from home three days per week and in the WDB office two days per week**.

The Research Assistant will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Business Support and Project Coordinator to support all research related activities, and to provide assistance in regards to data management including (but not limited to):

- Supporting local labour market research by connecting with employers and community stakeholders in-person, online and by telephone;
- Engaging in data compilation activities including but not limited to: tabulating and entering data, preparing data tables, and setting up spreadsheets;
- Presenting data, when requested, in a manner that will be understood by co-workers and stakeholders;
- Supporting WDB project activities as required;
- Performing other administrative duties as required.

This is an ideal role for a college or university student in business administration or statistics to gain on-the-job experience and mentorship opportunities with an interest in working in a hybrid work environment with a variety of organizations in the communities of Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton.

What You Will Bring:

- Post-secondary focus on Business Administration or Statistics considered an asset.
- Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal labour market sources (i.e., Statistics Canada, Labour Force Survey, etc.) is a definite asset.
- Evidence of research, analytical and report writing skills, preferably related to labour market information and/or quantitative research methods.
- Knowledge and experience performing analysis of multiple data sets.
- Experience in data collection, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, and dissemination of results.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Evidence of exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft environment.
- Ability to work independently to achieve day-to-day results.
- Demonstrated time management.
