Reporting to the Library Director, and tapping into your entrepreneurial spirit, you’ll spearhead a vision for a vibrant and proactive business strategy that leverages our current resources, streamlines our library processes and encourages us to evaluate how we operate. Working as a member of the management team, your primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization's financial, business and facilities functions. Collaborating with Library and District colleagues, you will contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices, and support strategic initiatives.
**What you’ll be doing**
- Support department leadership to strengthen and monitor the effectiveness of business processes; facilities asset management, change control and capital project engagement
- Library budget development, monitoring and compliance, working in alignment with municipal funder; implement, operationalize and monitor financial policies
- Initiate, guide, coordinate and facilitate service reviews and development (e.g. team lead for library service efficiency models/membership development)
- Responsible for statistical and financial data collection, reporting, management and interpretation, in order to support the evaluation of programs and inform program/service development
- Recommend annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring compliance with the District of North Vancouver’s budgetary process; analyze variances against monthly results; coordinate with the District of North Vancouver’s Facilities and Finance departments regarding capital requirements and planning
- Supervise, plan, direct and review the work and training/development of administrative and facilities staff
- Work with leadership staff to develop resource plans for programs, services and initiatives
- Coordinate a variety of projects, reviews, and annual plans; contribute materials to board packages and other library initiatives
- Responsible for procurement and third-party service providers
- Other duties as assigned
**What you’ll need to succeed**
A Business degree along with an accounting designation. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial, supervisory or leadership position. Experience in a not-for-profit environment is desirable.
**It’s great if you have**
- Ability to demonstrate organizational astuteness; be diplomatic and tactful; recognize internal and external sensitivities; understand the implications of recommendations and actions
- Ability to prepare administrative and technical reports covering Library operations and participate in the formulation and implementation of policy, practices and procedures
- A vision for supporting staff and leaders through changes to improve and streamline business processes and strategies
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and its partners
- Demonstrated political acumen, strategic thinking skills, ability to work in an ever-changing environment, ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Demonstrated initiative, autonomy, adaptability, maturity and sound judgment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret various financial, budget, accounting and cost control information and data and to develop logical solutions to budget variance issues
- Ability to prepare a variety of statistical and financial reports using an enterprise wide system

**Salary**:Pay Band 3 (Annual Salary Range - $91,631.32 to $101,708.23)
**Hours of Work**:37.5-hour work week
