The British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) has a vision where those affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illness receive adequate treatment and support, and family members are essential partners within the mental health system. Our mission is to support families affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illness in British Columbia through education, advocacy, and research. BCSS was founded in 1982 and is a charitable society with the provincial office located in Vancouver, BC.

**Events Coordinator**
The Events Coordinator will lead all provincial events for BCSS and the BCSS Foundation. This role will coordinate events and collaborate with the BCSS Communications Team for content, promotion, and the marketing of events. Event goals include supporting the mission of BCSS, increasing awareness of psychosis, schizophrenia, and other severe and persistent mental illnesses, as well as increasing the reach of BCSS throughout the province. This role will work alongside the Director of Development and the Director of Operations and Programs.

The position reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager.

**Responsibilities**
- Overseeing events for BCSS and the BCSS Foundation, including critical timeline development
- Coordinating pre-event, event, and post-event logistics and timelines; coordinating meetings; preparing, monitoring, and distributing event budgets. Events include but aren’t limited to the AGM, National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day, other awareness events, donor events, and member events
- Overseeing technical requirements for hybrid events
- Exploring event topics and potential speakers
- Liaising with staff, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and key stakeholders
- Assist the Communications team with developing sponsorship fulfillment packages and ensuring delivery of sponsor benefits
- Working with the BCSS Communications Team to produce event promotional and marketing materials (including announcements, photo opportunities, speech writing, and online/social media)
- Developing a strategic document and calendar for BCSS and BCSS Foundation events
- Developing new opportunities and ideas to build community awareness through existing and future events
- Increasing engagement, participation, community awareness, and education of BCSS events.
- Assist with increasing membership and engagement through awareness initiatives at BCSS and BCSSF events
- Responding to inquiries from the public about events, including assisting with media requests
- Preparing formal post-event reports
- Assisting with planning for event budgets
- Manage all requests for participation at third-party educational events (i.e.: booths at conferences)
- Any other duties as assigned

**Education and Experience**
- Minimum post-secondary diploma required, preference for post-secondary degree in a related field (preferably Marketing, Public or Community Relations, Event Planning), and two years of experience in special events planning, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
- Experience in planning and implementing events; proven track record in developing and implementing promotional plans
- In-depth technical knowledge of virtual/hybrid events using Zoom (or similar) and event management platforms
- Knowledge and experience with the use of project management, website management, and social media tools in a professional capacity are preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams is required
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, time-management, organization, and creative thinking; attention to detail is imperative
- The ability to work well independently or as a team on several projects concurrently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
