- Ensure the program offered to the boys is consistently followed and supported by all staff.
- Communicate as necessary, with all relevant agency and school personnel with respect to the care and welfare of the youth in our care.
- Ensure that all day to day reports, logs, medication documentation, as well as other tools/techniques used by staff in the completion of their job are written in an accurate, concise, and professional manner.
- Provide leadership and direction to all staff while on shift.
- Provide professional care and supervision to all youth.
- Advocate on behalf of all youth in care.
- Make sure all reminders and appointments are properly taken care of
- Assist in providing direction and/or supervision of all staff during shifts
- Teach life skills and independent living skills to residents
- Provide group and individual counselling opportunities for youth
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Post Secondary educational background.
- In lieu of a post-secondary educational diploma/degree a minimum of 5 years of residential experience in a residential setting
- Obtain a medical check-up verifying being free of communicable disease and fit to perform all aspects of the job
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Possess or obtain within three months of employment certification in CPR and First Aid
- Possess or obtain within three months of employment, certification in PMAB/NVCI or equivalent approved course (provided)
- Ability to function independently within the framework of a team
- Sound Behavioural Management skills
- Experience in interventions (individual, group, family)
- Ability to work effectively with children/youth and families in a planned, process-orientated, goal-directed method.
- Ability to produce clear and concise reports in a timely manner
- Thorough working knowledge of relevant legislation and agency policies and procedures and guidelines
- Competence in making and implementing decisions/actions when necessary to ensure quality service
The successful applicants are required to have a vulnerable sector police check, a doctor’s note stating you are free from communicable disease plus proof of COVID - 19 vaccinations.
