**Position Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Responsibilities for this position include:

- Current Planning- Perform field inspections when appropriate to gather data relevant to the planning process and/or to verify that projects comply with approved plans.

Long Range Planning- Conduct research on planning and related issues and compile results into reports, presentations and/or recommendations as required.
- Consult with relevant stakeholders on new or changing policy and bylaw outcomes.
- Prepare draft bylaws, plans and amendments.
- Prepare and present Request for Decision (RFD) and other finding to Council and Committee of the Whole.

Stakeholder Relations- Communicate and collaborate with team members, City departments, Provincial departments and key stakeholders as required.
- Provide professional planning advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Design, participate and facilitate public engagement.
- Respond to telephone and in person inquiries from the public or other stakeholders related to long-range planning initiatives
- Attend occasional and regular evening and weekend meetings.

Other Duties- Have an understanding of and adhere to City policies, procedures and standards, whether written or implied, as amended from time to time.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture by acting in a safe manner at all times and complying with City safety policies for staff and contractors.
- Provide leadership for Health and Safety by making every reasonable effort to ensure the health and safety of staff within the section.
- Act as a steward of the City's Corporate Culture through empowerment and support to staff.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Post secondary Degree in urban or regional planning, related field of studies or equivalent.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience, preferably in an Alberta municipal setting.
- Eligible for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). Membership is considered an asset.
