Corporate Counsel

This is an exciting opportunity for a practical, results-focused lawyer to join the legal department of a growing company in the important real estate development sector, building and operating purpose-built rentals from dirt to door.
In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to build a legal career in an important and growing real-estate space while helping to deliver the housing that Canadians need.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide accurate, timely and practical legal advice (both solicitor and barrister) to all departments within the organization
- Draft legal agreements and other legal documents
- Work closely with other members of the legal team
- Support and manage external counsel
- Manage risk as a facilitator of business operations
- Actively participate in building and maintaining our positive office environment
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- LLB/JD or equivalent
- 1-4 years post-call experience
- Member in good standing of the Law Society of B.C. or Law Society of Manitoba or ability to transfer from other provincial law society
- Preference for experience in corporate commercial, construction, real estate, litigation
- Critical thinker who takes a practical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple work assignments and competing priorities under tight timelines
- Team player, but with the ability to work independently when required with minimum supervision and a high degree of personal initiative
