The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) is the regulatory organization that oversees the practice of occupational therapists (OTs) in Ontario. Our job is to make sure that the public receives safe, effective, ethical care from OTs.

Our mission is to protect the public and instill confidence and trust by ensuring occupational therapists are competent, ethical, and accountable. We are Canada’s largest regulator of occupational therapists, and we oversee more than 6,500 occupational therapists registered here in Ontario.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
This role reports to the Director of Finance, People and Corporate Services, and will be responsible for various accountabilities, including but not limited to those listed below.

**KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Supports the Accounting & Payroll department with general finance & bookkeeping functions including inputting and processing accounts payable and receivable into the College accounting system.
- Processes cheques and invoices and conducts accurate bank reconciliations.
- Prepares financial/expense reports and submits payments for invoices (upon approval)
- Completes general month-end/year end duties and provides assistance with the annual financial audit.
- Ensures the accuracy of all data entry and reports, communicating any data anomalies, patterns of inquiries and other relevant trends/patterns.
- Accurately and promptly drafts routine correspondence and documentation for the program.
- Provides support to committees, networks, working groups and task forces as required.
- Completes specific projects as assigned by the Director, on time and within budget.
- Remains aware of and completes tasks and assignments in line with project deadlines.

**EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE**:
**REQUIRED**:

- College or University diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, and/or other related field(s).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in Bookkeeping, Accounting and/or Payroll positions.
- Proficiency with sophisticated database management (iMIS or comparable CRM) and document management software.

**NICE TO HAVE**:

- Background in not-for-profit, healthcare, regulatory, or public sector is an asset.
- Previous experience supporting boards, councils and/or committees is an asset.
- Fluency in French is an asset.

**COMPETENCIES**:

- Proficient in managing financial accounts and preparing financial reports/documents.
- Understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- General knowledge of office management and administration duties.
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact in a professional and engaging manner.
- Great organizational and time management skills; ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask and prioritize.
- Self-motivated, and comfortable working independently; committed to working cooperatively in a small team-based environment.
- Able to follow directions and know when to take initiative.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; sound judgement and discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential matters.
- Flexible and positive; comfortable adapting to change and fostering an environment that welcomes it.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**:
The starting salary for this position is $25/hour. Salary may vary depending on level of experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package to all our permanent full-time and permanent part-time staff and are a proud HOOPP employer.
