Reporting to the Forestry Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for facilitating the completion of Urban Forest Studies for local municipalities in York Region. This will include guiding a team for the delivery of landowner outreach and field data collection and entry, and leading results assessment, report writing, and presentation of results to the Technical Working Group.

**What you offer**
- Post-secondary education in Forestry, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years related experience.
- Ability to identify tree and shrub species found in the Greater Toronto Area and Lake Simcoe watershed.
- Familiarity with basic forest measurement practices and issues facing forests and canopy cover, such as climate change, urban development, common pathogens and invasive species.
- Experience with data collection equipment and software (ex. Survey 123), and GPS units.
- Strong communication and report writing skills and experience with presentation of technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Self-motivated, with a positive attitude towards the responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to publicly represent the Conservation Authority in a professional manner, in person and using digital technologies.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) and strong customer service skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Valid Class G driver's license.

**What you will do**
- Develop an implementation schedule for field data collection and oversee its delivery by the project team. This will include securing landowner permissions for property access.
- Oversee and coordinate tree canopy data collection and management in accordance with established iTree protocols, including the collection of tree data (e.g., Species, location, diameter at breast height, crown width, height) and other site characteristics (e.g., Ground cover, soil conditions, surrounding development).
- Conduct periodic audits and quality control to maintain accuracy of field data.
- Compile and maintain field data and landowner contact information.
- Provide guidance to a small field crew for the delivery of field activities, under the direction of the Coordinator.
- Navigate efficiently to a variety of locations throughout northern York Region.
- Schedule, coordinate, and participate in meetings with the Technical Working Group and stakeholder groups, and present findings.
- Draft briefing notes, technical briefs, progress, and final project reports, and present results to the Technical Working Group and other audiences as identified by the Coordinator.
- Liaise with project partners and landowners and provide project information to the public.
- Maintain sampling equipment as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

May 2023 (Hybrid with both office and work from home)

**Hours of work**

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
