Cedars Supportive Recovery Living has three long-term post-treatment homes. These purpose-built homes are located in Surrey, BC. All of our homes are gender specific giving space and safety to those living with us. We work to empower individuals to achieve their long-term goals of abstinence and ultimately recovery. We know recovery is real, attainable and sustainable.

The Community Support Worker (CSW) at Cedars Supportive Recovery Living (“CSRL”), a subsidiary of Cedars Recovery, plays a crucial role in ensuring the program operates in alignment with the mission and vision of Cedars.Reporting to the Program Manager, the CSRL Community Support Worker ensures that Cedars Recovery operates in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the supportive recovery living program. CSRL Community Support Workers support residents to uphold their responsibilities as outlined in the program guidelines while ensuring their rights are protected at all times. CSRL Community Support Workers maintain a constant presence, partnering with residents throughout their journey using a patient-centered, collaborative approach.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The list below is a guideline and may not be inclusive of all that is expected on a day-to-day basis. Support Staff are required to prioritize and respond to the needs of the daily operations of Aspen/Acorn in a professional and calm manner.
**1. Creating a Positive Work Environment**:

- Adhere to all CSRL policies and procedures.
- Participate in shift exchange meetings with a solution-focused approach.
- Report safety concerns to the Program Manager promptly to ensure safe and secure operations.
- Attending staff meetings and professional development workshops as requested.

**2. Supporting Resident Well-Being**:

- Promote behaviors that enhance recovery and address behaviors that may act as barriers to recovery.
- Monitor resident activities to ensure alignment with the daily schedule and program policies.
- Make scheduled and PRN medications available, documenting administration in residents' electronic medical records.

**3. Ensuring Smooth Operations of the Community**:

- Provide first aid in emergencies within the scope of training.
- Document significant occurrences and resident progress in CIMS (Client Information Management System) according to established guidelines.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a healthy, recovery-oriented environment.
- Support other duties as requested to enhance program operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification as a Community Support or Mental Health Worker is preferred. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 20 hours of education, training, or certification in counseling, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, or psychosocial intervention in the substance use sector.
- Valid First Aid Certification.
- Valid Driver's License
- Proof of compliance with provincial immunization policies.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written formats.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- A commitment to fostering an environment conducive to healing and recovery for residents and staff.
