**Position: Deputy Fire Chief**

**Term: Permanent Full-Time**

**Department: Fire**

**Salary: Up to $19.00/hour - based on qualifications and experience**

**Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:30a.m. - 4:30p.m., Monday - Friday, flexible schedule based on fire calls**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the direct supervision of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief will assist in providing direction and guidance to staff and community members on training and administrative matters with regards to Fire Safety and Health & Safety. Supports the Fire Chief with developing budgeting, purchasing and coordinating/conducting inspections and training. Assists with general administration duties as required.

Assists with the overall planning of objectives for the Oneida of the Thames Elected Council and community including the coordination of activities for the prevention of injury, illness & fire safety.

Required to assume acting capacity in the absence of Fire Chief.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) **OR** equivalent **PLUS**minimum 5 years’ experience in a fire service capacity;
3. Must have NFPA 1001 Level I & II;
4. Completion **or** willingness to complete NFPA 1021 Level I & II;
5. Minimum class DZ driver’s license and drivers abstract;
6. Standard First Aid/CPR **and/or **Basic Life Support (BLS) **or** willingness to obtain.
