**Regional Manager Job Description**

Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Nova Scotians (SDHHNS) is a non-profit organization with two offices: Halifax and Sydney. Established in 1980, the Society is funded by the Department of Community Services along with other provincial, private, and municipal, grants.

SDHHNS provides program and services to Deaf, hard of hearing, and late-deafened Nova Scotians including their families. These supports include American Sign Language / English Interpretation, Devices Loan and Sales, Hearing Aid Bank Program (Cape Breton), Accessibility Assessments, Hearing Health Care Counselling, Literacy, and General Support Services.

Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Nova Scotians is looking for an experienced regional manager to oversee our business operations in the Halifax Regional Municipality. The regional manager will be responsible for leading and managing daily operations to achieve business goals and maximize profitability. As a regional manager, your duties also include guiding staff in your region, coordinating Society services with the regional manager in the Cape Breton area, setting performance objectives, evaluating, and optimizing operational performance, ensuring regulatory and company standards are upheld, and preparing operations and financial reports in coordination with the Cape Breton regional manager. The Halifax regional manager will also act as the lead contact and liaison with government departments on behalf of the Society.

To be successful as a regional manager, you should be able to lead and manage people, ensure operations run smoothly, and achieve revenue targets. Ultimately, a top-notch regional manager should be able to perform efficiently in a high-pressure environment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

**Responsibilities**:

- Achieve business goals and revenue targets.
- Oversee daily operations, manage budgets, and set performance objectives.
- Recruit, train, and supports a team of employees as well as conduct regular performance appraisals of all Society employees.
- Execute written proposals, seek alternate funding sources.
- Develop and implement business, marketing, and advertising plans.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relations and negotiate contracts.
- Plan, evaluate, and optimize operations to be efficient and cost-effective.
- Ensure products and services comply with regulatory and quality standards.
- Ensure company standards and procedures are followed.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, analyses, and reports of operations and finances of the provincial society to the provincial directors.
- Respond to needs / provide coaching, and one to one support to the Deaf community.
- Respond to escalated / complex client issues, incident reports, and legal actions of the Society.
- Be the spokesperson for any media relations for the Society.
- Be the contact person and negotiator with Federal and Provincial contracts.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a similar field preferred.
- Experience working within the non-profit sector.
- Minimum 5+ years of management and leadership experience especially with employees, Boards and volunteers.
- Excellent communication skills: must include written English and signed (ASL).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Proven leadership and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to write proposals.
- Proven ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

**Reporting**
- Reports to the Chair(s) of the Board of Directors.

**Position**
- Full time salaried position (3 month probationary period)
- Monday to Friday 830 - 430, 35 hours per week
- Occasional evening and weekends paid as equal earned time off in lieu of
- On site with occasional opportunity to work from home
- Health and Pension Plan
- 3 week vacation to start with paid one week off at Christmas

**Salary Range - $59,000 - $63,000 per annum**
