**Course number and title**: ANT390H1F Special Topics in Anthropology: Practicing Anthropology: Using Anthropology outside of Academia

**Course description**:This lecture-format course focuses on a relatively broad topic in anthropology. Topics change from year to year. See Anthropology website for more details.
Prerequisite: 9.0 FCEs. Further pre-requisites vary from year to year, consult the department.

The special topic for this course is Practicing Anthropology: Using Anthropology outside of Academia

**Estimated course enrolment**: 60 students

**Estimated TA support**:35 hours - to be adjusted according to actual enrollment

**Class schedule**: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6 pm, Classes begin May 8 and end June 19, 2023

Sessional Lecturer I: $9182.42

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9641.55

Sessional Lecturer II: $9826.96

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,025.84

Sessional Lecturer III: $10,060.93

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,262.15

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

**Minimum qualifications**:
MA or MSc in Anthropology required, PhD preferred (preferably in Social Cultural Anthropology).
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a non-academic setting working as an applied/practicing anthropologist required.
Demonstrated evidence of superior teaching is required

**Description of duties**:All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including preparing the course outline, syllabus and lectures, delivering lectures, developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests & exams, holding regular office hours and the supervision of any assigned TA support.
