**JOIN OUR TEAM**

We are looking for a motivated Cook (On-call) to join our Family Centre team

**POSITION FUNCTION**:

- Under the supervision of the Family Centre manager, the **Cook **provides culturally appropriate meals following the kitchen’s Food Safety and Sanitation Plan, performs the daily kitchen maintenance, sanitizes all items used in the kitchen area, and maintains cooking and storage areas in a clean and tidy condition following the local Food Safety standards. This cook assists in creating a welcoming environment and supporting the families who access the program.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Current FOODSAFE Level 1 and First Aid CPR-C level Certificates are required.
- One to two years of experience as a cook; at least one year of experience in a customer service position or related field, preferably assisting immigrants and refugees.
- Menu planning using the Canadian Food Guide for meals that are culturally diverse and promote optimal health and nutrition; familiar with issues facing refugees, some knowledge and understanding of early childhood development issues, immigrant and refugee, settlement challenges, and relevant community resources; standard office equipment.
- Excellent knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces and equipment used during service.
- A current, satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
- Access to a vehicle preferred.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.

**HOURS**:On-call as needed.
