**PURPOSE**

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Production manager ensures that the manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently. Responsibilities of the job include planning, analyzing and organizing production schedules. Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers where applicable.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Develops and implements specific policies, objectives and teams in support of strategic goals to improve the efficiency and effectiveness within the Production department while working collaboratively with other workers.
- Responsible for ensuring that all employees and equipment are performing safely in accordance with current established Health and Safety regulations through direct or indirect supervision.
- Integrates health and safety into all aspects of production in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, industrial safety regulations and all other relevant current legislation that apply.
- Ensures that all Customer orders are completed on time within established budgetary guidelines.
- Manages initiatives aimed at meeting financial, operational and growth objectives.
- Gives clear directive to staff, handles incidents and documentation related to occurrences/incidences in the plant and escalates when necessary.
- Communicates with Maintenance regarding any issues with equipment.
- Ensures staff are scheduled accordingly to ensure business continuity.
- Performs additional duties related to the role as assigned by the manager.
- Communicates and works effectively with Quality Assurance.
- Any other duties as assigned by Management.

**INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION**

Internal:

- Works closely with Plant Manager, Production Supervisors, line personnel and Quality Assurance on both shifts. Works collaboratively and professionally with all other management and colleagues.

External:

- No external communication for this position.

**RESPONSIBILITY**

Supervision:

- Direct supervisory responsibility for Plant Personnel.

Decision Making:

- This position has no authority to make decisions outside of pre-approved written limits.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**

Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- 10 years+ experience in a Managerial role in Manufacturing/Supply Chain (Food Industry preferred)
- Post-secondary education
- Proven supervisory and problem-solving skills
- Solid working knowledge of H&S practices
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, organize, execute and delegate.
- Positive and professional demeanor.
- Good prioritization skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with people at all levels.
- Ability to act with discretion, patience and diplomacy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

**Typical plant environment with little exposure to unpleasant elements. Moderate noise.**

**Salary**: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
