**Position Overview**:
Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, the Associate Category Manager (ACM) is responsible for the management of selected small categories in the convenience store retail environment and to provide support to the Category Managers in their categories. The ACM will make sure the process for product listing in our price book is completed on time for store to receive the new products and for MacEwen Petroleum Inc. to pay the invoices. The ACM is also responsible for store communication and weekly memos. The ACM will be trained by the Senior Category Manager how to effectively manage a category and develop strategies with vendors to grow sales and margins in their respective categories.

This is a full-time, permanent role.

**Responsibilities**:

- Negotiates supply agreements and manages vendor relationships with referred convenience store suppliers for assigned categories.
- Manages product assortment and product specifications in assigned categories in order to identify and address opportunities within the business and the market to maximize sales and margin opportunities.
- Develops and communicates business plans that maximize sales, margin dollars and margin percentage based on current business trends and additional business and external market factors.
- Identifies items to maximize promotional and marketing strategies to meet sales and margin goals.
- Provides field leadership teams and store operators with relevant and timely communication required to maximize sales and margins.
- Assists in the support, maintenance and updating of the price book ERP system, as required.
- Works with the Marketing Team on promotional and merchandising programs.

**Requirements**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, or college diploma plus three years appropriate experience.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Minimum of three years of experience in a directly related role, which includes store retail operations and systems experience.
- Leadership and strength in follow up and execution.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Persuasive communicator, presenter and negotiator.
- Self-starter who is able to manage time well.
- Able to plan, execute and juggle multiple projects and priorities successfully.
- Excellent analytical skills with proven attention to detail.
- Must be highly competent in the use of Microsoft suite of software. Must be able to create reports and spreadsheets, export and manipulate data.
- Able to communicate effectively in both official languages, both verbal and written is preferred.

**Other**:

- While based in Ottawa, Ontario, this position requires occasional travel to various locations.
- Requires valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
