**Duties**:

- Provide oversight and supervision of front-line staff and the day-to-day operations in accordance with the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
- Ensure that duties assigned are completed in an appropriate, safe, and efficient manner by the completion of their respective shifts.
- Has input and may participate in the hiring, orientating, evaluating and disciplining of staff.
- During shift, provide support and supervision of staff and assist with crisis intervention, diffusing conflict and problem solving as required to ensure the safety of residents and staff; responds initially to resident grievances.
- Responsible for completing the scheduling of staff to ensure coverage for all vacant shifts, including sick relief, stat and vacation coverage.
- Provide guidance and support services to staff as required.
- Participate in daily shift changes to ensure proper transmission of information from one shift to another.
- Monitor and check logs to ensure the completion of regular security checks.
- Provide statistical and evaluative information to management when required.
- May provide back up support to and or assume functions at front desk area or other program areas as needed.
- Identify staff training requirements and make recommendations regarding staff development for those supervised.
- Provide case management and support to residents as needed.
- Comply with all Niagara Region operating standards and contractual agreements.
- Maintain information in strict confidence and according to Protected B and PHIPA standards.
- Responsible to work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Acts and Regulations.
- Responsible to work in a manner as required by the employer and use the prescribed safety equipment.
- In consultation with the Executive Director and Business Coordinator, provide oversight to WSIB claims and other health and safety matters as required within applicable departments, including supervision of the Early and Safe Return to Work Program.
- Ensure that proper procedures are followed in the event of a workplace injury or illness, conducting incident investigations when required.
- Participate in all Health & Safety related accidents and injury investigations.
- Ensure that staff are aware of emergency procedures and are prepared to implement them immediately as necessary.

**Working Conditions**:

- This is a permanent full-time position based on 40 hours per week.
- The working conditions are such that in order to meet the operational needs, job flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work and work schedule.
- Mostly works after regular business hours - evenings and weekends.
- Rotational on-call duties.
- Some travel required.
- May deal with clients who become angry.
- May encounter verbal abuse.

**Education and Experience Qualifications**:

- Completed a post-secondary University Degree in social work or equivalent education. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification would be an asset or willing to obtain.

**Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements**:
Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including experience in a residential setting, experience in supervision, leadership, coaching, and motivating staff and working with marginalized clientele.

- Working knowledge of issues pertaining to homeless Individuals and persons on parole.
- Experience working with a diverse population and an ability to demonstrate a supportive, respectful, and non-judgmental approach to clients.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently, when necessary, with mínimal supervision.
- Knowledge of and proven ability in linking with community resources.
- Must have strong organization and planning skills.
- Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and disciplined.
- Ability to lift/move 20 lbs.
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; ability to develop and maintain a team environment.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License. Must provide an original copy of current driver’s abstract that it satisfact
