Qualifications Required and Preferred- Masters in Psychology, preferably counseling psychology.
- Be registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CRPO Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CRPO.
- Current CPR-HCP is required
- Completion of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training preferred
- Certification or current enrollment in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) preferred
- Certification and competency in Cognitive Processing therapy preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery
- Experience working with Public safety Personnel is preferred
- 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service preferred
- Application of and experience with evidence-based manualized treatment modalities, specifically CBT, CPT and IPT
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Therapy Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required
- Knowledge and experience of the challenges involved in community reintegration of short and longer stay psychiatric inpatients
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Thorough knowledge of evidence based occupational treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community
- Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy and crisis intervention skills
- Knowledge of psychotherapy in a clinic format is essential
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position
- Variable hours may be required due to patient demand
