**Position Overview**

Alberta Transportation has awarded Aecon with a $595 million contract for the Deerfoot Trail Improvements project, located in Calgary, Alberta. Construction will consist of seven new bridges, additional lanes, and improvements to ramps and interchanges. Construction is scheduled for completion by fall of 2027.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the **Drainage and Utilities Superintendent** is responsible to provide leadership, supervision, and coordination for day-to-day field operations. This includes ensuring the safety of crew members, ensuring the productivity of crew members, following OH&S and Company policies, procedures, and guidelines. The Superintendent is a key participant in the relationship between the company, the workforce, other contractors, the client, and all other project stakeholders. This role will sit out of our **Calgary, Alberta **site office location.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors and consultants in compliance with the project’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation.
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs and mentorship with crew.
- Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections.
- Track and report project, quality control, resource requirements
- Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews.
- Direct Foremen on productivity issues and monitor the work performance, working with the Foreman and crews to overcome challenges.
- Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the Superintendent, Forepersons and crews perform to meet production goals.
- Assist the Forepersons to translate drawings, specifications and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
- Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on sites.
- Work with the Construction Manager to identify equipment and labour resource requirements.
- Work with the project team to manage daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules and budgets.
- Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching and team building.
- Ensure work completed meets quality standards, that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed.
- Oversee the approval of daily production records and reporting on work progress, these include:

- Daily quality control inspections and checklists.
- Record and report of violations or disciplinary actions.
- HSE inspections and reports.
- Project specific forms/inspections/tracking as required.
- Approving field log each day and ensuring submittal of field log for each Foreperson is completed daily. Reviewing field log with the Project manager/Leads to ensure accuracy of phase codes and reported items.
