About the Role:

Our client, a leading heavy civil construction contractor specializing in earthworks, underground utilities, and land development, is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an organization recognized for delivering exceptional projects in the commercial, industrial, and municipal sectors across Alberta.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale civil infrastructure projects, a proven track record of leading teams, and a commitment to safety and quality excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Site Leadership:
    Oversee day-to-day site operations to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Team Management:
    Lead, mentor, and supervise field crews and subcontractors, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Safety First:
    Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and company protocols, conducting regular inspections and promoting a safety-focused mindset.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for clients, inspectors, and other project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress and addressing concerns.
  • Resource Management:
    Coordinate equipment, labor, and materials to optimize site productivity and minimize delays.
  • Problem Solving:
    Identify and mitigate potential issues or challenges, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, progress reports, and as-built drawings.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction, including significant experience in earthworks and underground utilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
