**Position Purpose summary**:
The Environmental Services/ Housekeeping Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and overseeing Housekeeping for The Centre of Hopeto ensure the cleanliness of the facilities, in compliance with health and safety requirements.

**Accountabilities**:

- **Environmental Services**_:_
- May participate in contract negotiation for Housekeeping services, at the direction of Executive Director or designate.
- Develops and proposes short
- and long-term housekeeping services to senior management for approval and implementation.
- Develops, implements, and participates in operational plans for housekeeping, including benchmarks for services.
- Monitors the quality of the work performed in the Housekeeping department and implements quality improvement plans.
- **Housekeeping Administration**_
- Ensures that scheduled housekeeping procedures are coordinated; ensures housekeeping guidelines comply with warranties and contracts.
- Ensures all Housekeeping reports/documentation complies with relevant regulatory, legislative and accreditation standards.
- Develops, implements, and revises as necessary a service manual for housekeeping; this includes policies and procedures for all housekeeping functions.
- Maintains inventory of tools and equipment and ensures that it is kept current; ensures that the annual inventory check in conducted.
- Maintains an accurate system for inventory/stock control; orders supplies and ensures receipt, storage and redistribution to the appropriate departments; maintains a list of qualified suppliers.
- Authorizes repairs or purchases within the defined budget.
- **Human Resources**_
- In consultation with the Human Relations, hires, orientates, trains, evaluates, rewards, disciplines, and terminates housekeeping staff ensuring compliance with The Salvation Army and The Centre of Hope.
- Ensures that all housekeeping staff have completed the required mandatory training and is up to date, in cooperation with HR.
- Ensures staff safety in compliance with the Health & Safety Standards; monitors and analyzes incident reports.
- Submits and acts on incident reports and deals with complaints.
- Provides ongoing, consistent coaching, and performance feedback, and manages the evaluation of staff working in housekeeping.
- Prepares, posts, and maintains staff schedules and ensures staff coverage for absences and special events; approves vacation time,
- Submits and approves time sheets for payroll purposes.
- Understands and complies with Union Collective Agreement.
- **Health and Safety**_
- Understands and ensures compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Ensures that proper procedures are followed in the event of a workplace injury or illness.
- Works in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abides by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.

- Reports directly to: Executive Director.
- Direct reports for this position: Housekeeping staff 5-7 employees). Working supervisor/technical leader.

**FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT**:

- Moderate level of material responsibility (cleaning tools and equipment, tools, cleaning and maintenance supplies, etc.).
- May be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash.
- Regular responsibility for minor financial matters and for wise use of own resources.
- Ensures adherence to budgets and provide input into the preparation of the annual related budget.
- Provides business department with any necessary information regarding invoicing, payment approval, etc.
