**Position Purpose**:
The Supervisor, Financial Planning & Analysis provides leadership, oversight and guidance to the Financial Planning and Analysis team. This role is accountable for the effective completion of the budgeting and forecasting processes, and preparation of variance analysis and business unit reporting.

- Oversees the preparation of the annual budget process, quarterly forecasts, and monthly variance analysis
- Provides coaching, development, performance management, technical guidance and advice regarding financial planning and analysis activities
- Provides overall people leadership and direction through employee development and resource planning
- Reviews monthly actual versus budget variance analysis inputs and prepares consolidated analysis and narrative
- Oversees reporting to business unit managers and identifies risks and opportunities to the organization’s financial objectives
- Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial data by maintaining data models used for financial analysis, planning, and reporting
- Accountable for development of reporting, templates and other tools to support the financial planning process
- Oversees the preparation of annual burden and shared services, quarterly review, and true-up of these allocations
- Provides direction to direct reports and management on budgeting process and assumptions
- Prepares formal business cases, recommendations and presentations for senior management
- Leads the implementation of process improvements and productivity tools for the Budgeting team
- Identifies opportunities to enhance financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes that streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and/ or implement new tools and technologies
- Ensures all aspects of Company’s safety philosophy is executed and adhered to
- Leads ad hoc and other analyses including cost-benefit and trend analysis
- Performs other duties as assigned

**Education & Specialized Knowledge**
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
- CMA/CGA/CA/CPA designation
- Extensive knowledge of budgeting and forecasting principles,
- Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and Modified IFRS
- Able to interpret financial results and communicate to both financial and non-financial management and staff
- Knowledge of the energy and utility industries, including a solid understanding of the regulatory environment
- Experience with IT-based automated reporting and budgeting tools

**Experience**
- Minimum of 5-7 years progressive budgeting and forecasting experience in a supervisory role with direct reports
- Experience in preparing business plans and reports for senior management
- Experience working in a multi-business or divisional environment
- Experience working with IBM Cognos TM1, JDE, Microsoft BI, or other ERP systems and databases is an asset

- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to organize and convey information in a compelling way
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines
- Strong conflict negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and resolve difficult situations
- Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license
