Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate History and Board Communications, the Head, Board Communications will be responsible for working with the President and CEO and Senior Director, Corporate History and Board Communications to promote effective Board governance, operations, and collaboration. S/he will provide strategic guidance and critical thought leadership to the President and CEO, Executive Directors, and Program Teams in the development of strategic and high-quality Board submissions.

**WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE**
- Manage the preparation and finalization of quarterly board documents, ensuring high quality and strategic content is developed.
- Provide consultation and strategic thought partnership to the President and CEO and Executive Directors to achieve successful and strategic Board submissions.
- Provide critical guidance and instruction to Program Team Leaders on the development and completion of Board documents.
- Participate in Executive Team’s Board meeting preparation, providing feedback, coaching, and collaboration to achieve strategic and high-quality submissions and presentations.
- Liaise with President and CEO and Board Chair to understand their feedback and direction and to assist Program Teams to incorporate and adjust.
- Liaise with President and CEO and Chief of Staff to support preparation of the President’s Report and Progress on Goals to the Board.
- Liaise with President and CEO to prepare the Chair’s quarterly Cover Letter and any other related Board communication.
- Provide oversight of Board meeting logistics ensuring that all deliverables are completed for effective Board meetings.
- Ensure Board materials are shared, minutes and resolutions reviewed, actions followed up, and Chair’s feedback is communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
- Attend all Board meetings and support Office of the President and CEO.
- Collaborate with the Office of the President and CEO and relevant Country Program Teams to curate and manage in-country Partner Site Visits for Board members, providing oversight to the logistics, briefing materials, and management of visits in Africa and Canada.
- Provide oversight to the preparation and updating of onboarding materials for new Board members.

**WHO YOU ARE**
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years full-time related experience, including time working with or supporting Boards of Directors, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to anticipate President and CEO and Board information to obtain approval on programs and strategies put forward to the Board.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to influence decision-making and to deliver thoughtful and sensitive feedback to document owners and to Foundation leadership.
- Detail-oriented with a track record of delivering excellence in written documentation and strategic reports.
- Ability to motivate, coach, and mentor a high-performing team to ensure annual performance goals are met and are aligned with Foundation goals and priorities.
- High level of professional integrity and ability to ensure confidentiality.
- Flexible, adaptable, agile, and able to execute a range of job duties with multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Proven excellence in verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures and to distill complex information and data into accessible conversation and written pieces.
- Possess professional maturity, sensitivity with different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplify the Foundation’s values.
