**Job summary**:
The Heavy Equipment Operator & Labourer must be able to operate a loader and excavator with dangle head experience. Our machines are equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered grapple/magnet to lift and transport bulk materials into railcars or to load/unload trucks. Must also be able to perform general labour and torch cutting duties.

**Responsibilities**:

- Loads and unloads heavy material.
- Strong understanding of material grades.
- Moves levers to grade and sort metal.
- Adheres to pile management procedures.
- Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Completes inspection report prior to using equipment.
- Torch/cut ferrous material into proper shipping dimensions. This will include but is not limited to torching plate material, pipe, I beam, H beam, cable, and oversize equipment.
- Perform work outdoors in all seasons (extreme cold, extreme heat).
- Records activities as required by Management.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Observes and reports any safety issues.
- Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma / GED
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol tests
- Must have clean criminal record within with the last five years
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Applicants must have 2-3 years of heavy equipment operation experience, i.e. shear, excavator, material handler, front end loader or equivalent
- Previous torch cutting experience is preferred
- Must have industry experience
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

**Other Information**:

- Location: Prince George, BC
- Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8am - 4:30pm
- Rate: $30-$35/hour (commensurate with experience)

The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
