Job Overview

Reporting to the Director, MEC Label Supply Chain and you will be the end-to-end raw material specialist for MEC Label product. From developing seasonally appropriate materials with the product creation team, to ensuring fabrics pass our rigorous testing criteria. You will work cross functionally to execute the raw material strategy to support the growth of the MEC Label brand. Partner will raw material mills to develop future materials and hold them accountable on pricing, quality, testing and delivery.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Work within the innovation and product creation team to create commercially viable, functional materials and trims that align with the Raw Materials sourcing strategy and meet MEC's end use requirements, quality and sustainability goals.
- Partner with product creation to create material and trim briefs that include specified objectives and requirements.
- Partner with the mills to create Material Specs based on MEC quality standards and performance expectations.
- Oversee raw materials performance and test criteria used to measure and validate functional performance, quality and cost criteria as part of the design and development of MEC Label Product.
- Update each commercialized material and trim into the MEC Raw material assortment, known as the Toolbox.
- Ensure development headers/swatches are requested, received, reviewed and commented on in a timely manner.
- Record and maintain material specifications in PLM and ensure accurate data regarding each material and its supply chain from fiber to fabric
- Clear and timely communication with material suppliers to support complete understanding and correct execution of material developments. Nurture long-term relationships with suppliers built on trust and integrity.
- Adhere to seasonal commercialization timelines in order to successfully meet product deadline expectations.
- Extract seasonal raw material greige data from PLM to provide mills with seasonal fabric forecast. Follow up with garment factories to ensure they place fabric purchases to mitigate the need for surcharge payments.
- Report monthly of fabric and trim liability to the MEC Label business.
- Communicate closely with cross functional teams in design, sourcing, quality engineering and production to ensure goals are aligned. Identify and resolve potential quality risks in development, mitigating risks and delays for commercialization of the MEC product.
- Responsible for creating material hand standards to distribute to factories and production team. File and maintain reference library in office.
- Collaborate with the costing team, PLM (Product Line Manager) and Design team to ensure materials are delivered at the target cost through the consideration of volume, lifecycle, sustainability attributes, performance features and mill/factory regionality.
- Initiate supplier reporting, track and report commercialization risks to leadership via dashboard and/or weekly meeting.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working with têxtile development, testing or production.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of têxtiles including fibers, yarns, knit and woven fabrications, têxtile manufacturing, dyeing, finishing and the development process.
- Experience interpreting design intent, offering solutions and acting as a technical resource.
- Experience working in a PLM system and are proficient in MS Office programs.
- Thrive in ambiguity and can succeed in a changing environment.
- Able to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international)
