_**We are in search of a motivated and team-focused Laboratory Technician to join our Histology Department. As an integral member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting diagnostic procedures and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of patient samples**_.

**RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES**
- Receive and data enter tissue samples in LIS for histological analysis.
- Monitor and document any deviations or discrepancies in specimen handling.
- Perform grossing, embedding, and microtomy of tissue samples under the direct Supervision of an MLT, Technical Specialist, or Supervisor.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including microscopes, tissue processors, and strainers.
- Strictly adhere to department quality control procedures to ensure the laboratory's compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the laboratory's compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on industry advancements and best practices.

**EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE**
- Previous experience in an Anatomic Pathology Laboratory is not mandatory but will be viewed as an asset
- Previous experience in one of or all; grossing, embedding, and/or microtomy is not mandatory but will be viewed as an asset
- Demonstrates a good understanding of Quality Management Systems and able to incorporate methodology into laboratory processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety and compliance regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

**SKILLS and ABILITIES**
- Able to utilize critical thinking skills and appropriately prioritizes work.
- Works collaboratively with the team and is knowledgeable when to direct questions to the supervisor or pathologist.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
- Models behaviour to align with our policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

**ETHICAL CONDUCT**
- Treats each case with respect, maintains confidentiality and adheres to the requirements of PIPEDA and PHIPA.
